JEWELLERY INFORMATION GUIDE
Not sure what all the different types and threads of piercing jewellery mean? The terminology can feel like a whole new language and can definitely get confusing. We're here to help with this simple guide to break down the basics.
All jewellery we offer and use for fresh piercings are made of implant grade titanium (ASTM F-136). We offer a wide range of internally threaded and threadless jewellery.
We also have a beautiful collection of attachments in 14 & 18 karat solid gold to browse and choose from which is subject to availability on the day (please note that we do not currently have a catalogue to share remotely at this time).
"WHAT IS JEWELLERY GAUGE & HOW TO UNDERSTAND SIZES?"
Gauge (Thickness): This is the thickness of the jewellery. In the UK we measure in millimetres.
You may also come across ("g") Gauge system online which is used in the USA & elsewhere.
The standard jewellery gauge for most fresh piercings are 1.2mm or 1.6mm for safety and security during healing.
When it is time for your jewellery downsize, and purchasing jewellery in the future lengths and diameters will become an important factor for finding the appropriate personal fit - jewellery is like shoes - it's not just one size fits all, as we say. If you would like to know a bit more, click the text below: Length (For Straight / Curved Barbells & Labrets): The wearable distance of the post between the front attachment and the flat back/ball attachment. Length does *not* include the ball or decorative attachments. Fresh piercings use longer posts to leave room for swelling, while piercings that have settled in the healing phase, or have fully healed get downsized to shorter posts for a snug fit. Diameter (For Rings & Hoops): The measurement across the *inside* of the ring, not counting the ring itself. This determines how close or loose a hoop sits against your skin.

The first thing to know for understanding how your jewellery "functions" is the thread type when it comes to labrets, straight and curved barbells.
What does jewellery thread mean?
Essentially the way of "fastening" - referring to how the jewellery post and attachments connect together.
There are three thread types used universally in the piercing world.
All of them have their pros and cons.
At our studio you will find Internal and Threadless jewellery only.
IMPORTANT NOTE
If you are new to using these types of jewellery, or your piercing is not yet fully healed please seek assistance from your piercer with changing your jewellery.
This ensures it is done safely and will not risk causing damage to your piercing, shrinking or complete closure if you are unable to re-fit jewellery successfully.
